Premium Tax Credit Webinar

The Health Reform: Beyond the Basics project will present a detailed discussion on eligibility for premium tax credits, including how offers of employer-sponsored insurance can affect eligibility.  The webinar will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.   This is part of a four-part webinar series - Determining Household Size and Income, Plan Design and Exemptions - on key topics that assisters need to know to help enroll people into Marketplace coverage. Register Here.

 

Large Declines in Uninsured Rates among Hispanics and Blacks

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality published the 2016 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report indicating the uninsured rate among Hispanics declined from 42 percent in 2010 to 26 percent in 2016. The uninsured rate for blacks during the same period declined from 28 percent to 15 percent. The report is based on more than 250 measures of quality and disparities covering a vast array of healthcare services and settings.  Read the full report here.

 

HealthChoices Is NOT Community HealthChoices

HealthChoices is the physical mandatory managed care program for Medical Assistance recipients.  This program is managed by the Office of Medical Assistance Programs in the Department of Human Services.  Community HealthChoices is the mandatory managed care program for individuals who are dually eligible for Medical Assistance and Medicare and individuals with physical disabilities.  This program is scheduled to be implemented beginning in Southwest PA in Jan. 2018 and to roll out statewide by Jan. 2019.  The three MCOs awarded Community HealthChoices contracts are:   AmeriHealth Caritas, Pennsylvania Health & Wellness (Centene) and UPMC for You.  The HealthChoices MCOs currently contracted to provide services to 2.2 million consumers in all five Pennsylvania zones are outlined by zone in the table below.
