From A to Gen Z: The Path to Actual Behavior Change

Event date: 12/13/2019 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Export event

PACHC will host the From A to Gen Z: The Path to Actual Behavior Change webinar on Dec. 13 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Generation Z includes anyone born after 1997 and is the youngest, most ethnically-diverse and largest generation in American history. They grew up with technology at their fingertips, often expecting instant gratification. It can be challenging to hold their attention to elicit behavior change if you are not appealing to their personal motivations. As health care professionals, we must adapt our communication and education techniques to connect with this younger generation. In this webinar, we will explore the unique motivations and learning preferences for adolescents emerging from Generation Z. We will also explore ways that you can use motivational interviewing in your own clinic to work smarter, not harder.

Molly Jones, RD, LD is the Sodexo Outpatient Bariatric Surgery and Telehealth dietitian at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She received her B.S. in Dietetics from The University of Georgia and holds a certificate of training in childhood and adolescent weight management. She has used her pediatric and telemedicine training to help meet the unique needs of adolescents preparing for bariatric surgery. By connecting with adolescents via telemedicine, she has helped to increase surgery volume by over 200%. Molly has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed abstracts and has presented live webinars and at national conferences on topics including childhood obesity, telenutrition and bariatric surgery. Molly is also actively involved in the local dietetics community, currently serving as the President of the South Carolina Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Due to her contributions and leadership, she was recognized as the Charleston-Trident 2018 Outstanding Dietitian of the Year and 2015 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year.
